What is Zamak Metal Injection?
Zamak metal injection is the process of producing parts with complex shapes by injecting molten Zamak alloy into a metal mold under high pressure. This method allows producing high-quality parts with precise tolerances and is widely used in various industries such as automotive, electronics and white goods.
Zamak quality is determined by testing the accuracy of chemical composition, mechanical properties (tensile strength, hardness), microstructural homogeneity, fluidity and surface quality during casting, coating and painting compatibility, and corrosion resistance. All of these factors evaluate the durability, application suitability and overall performance of the Zamak alloy.
Zamak metal molds provide high productivity thanks to their low melting point, excellent fluidity and fast cooling times. These features enable fast and precise production of parts with complex and fine details, while reducing energy consumption and lowering production costs. Additionally, Zamak molds have a low wear rate, are long-lasting and offer high dimensional accuracy, making them an economical and effective production option.
Zamak 5, also known as Z410, is a widely used zinc alloy. The name Zamak is derived from the German initials of the words "Zinc, Aluminum, Magnesium, and Kupfer (Copper)". Zamak 5 consists of zinc, aluminum, magnesium and copper, and the ratios of these elements give the alloy various mechanical and physical properties.
